Our goal for the launch was 120 essays so we were excited to reach a total of 150 essays by our launch date.
It is official! We have launched our first version of the Discover Jesus app and website to the general public. It is available at https://discoverjesus.app.
For now, the site is live for anyone on a tablet, laptop, desktop computer, or anything with a screen larger than 10 inches. We are working behind the scenes to quickly get a mobile-friendly version launched, as well, but didn’t want to hold up the desktop version any longer!
Our “launch party” was held on November 15 and we had a large group assembled on Zoom to see a demo of the live site and hear how we have made it to this point with the help of many volunteers who have been committed to the vision of this project.
We launched Discover Jesus with 150 essays and close to 200 paintings and images. We estimate that we are about one-fourth of the way to our goal of 600 total articles when we are completely finished with Part IV of The Urantia Book. As we often say, much of our work still lies ahead!
Our goal for the launch was 120 essays, so we were excited to reach a total of 150 essays by our launch date. Our late surge came from our desire to make the first release as robust as possible. Beyond our launch, we continue to receive and add content from our dedicated and prolific volunteer writers.
As a reminder, each essay represents an original exposition of a Person, Group, Relationship, Event, Location, Object, or Topic from part IV of The Urantia Book.
Gary Tonge continues to paint for the app and is using the Midjourney AI program to produce an initial draft and then completes the work himself. His talent is invaluable to the Discover Jesus platform and he helped us surpass our goal of published essays by creating a profile image for each new essay.
It's Gary's unique skill and talent that weaves these images into the narrative and we truly appreciate as he goes above and beyond to make the text come alive for all of our visitors to the site.
As you can imagine, this is a huge project and we have a team of enthusiastic Urantia Book students working on it. Lisa T. and Fraser are working collaboratively on a mobile-friendly version of the site that is coming soon. Lisa C. is helping with the marketing and fundraising. And we have so many writers and others to thank for their incredible investment of time.
Please consider helping us with a donation. A generous donor has challenged all of us with a matching fund of $100,000 for new donations made through the end of 2023. That's just a little over one month from now!
Look for the "Contribute" button at the top of this page, or donate below.
Thank you!
