Why I Love Jesus

I love Jesus for oh so many reasons,
More than my heart could ever explain–
For the quiet ways he walked among us,
Through sunshine, through sorrow, through joy and through pain.

I love him for being ordinary,
For living as one of us,
For working hard to earn his living,
And showing us the dignity in what we do.

I love him for loving his family,
For loyalty to those he held dear,
For the friends who walked beside him,
And the people who found comfort when he was near.

I love him for always smiling,
For bringing warmth wherever he went,
For genuinely loving everyone,
With a heart so open, so freely spent.

I love his patience and his kindness,
His steadfast heart, his faithful way,
His calmness and self-assured spirit,
That never needed pride to have its say.

I love him for staying true to God,
And true to the person he was,
For following faithfully his purpose,
Even when the road was difficult and long.

I love the way he respected others,
How he listened, wondered, asked, and cared–
With curiosity about each person,
Making them feel truly seen and heard.

I love his mercy, love, and humility,
The tenderness within his strength.
He never need to stand above us
To reach us, love us, or walk beside us.

And perhaps that is why I love him most:
He was divine, yet lived so humanly–
A faithful son, a friend, a worker,
A man who loved, who laughed, who simply was.

I love Jesus for oh so many reasons,
Yet one shines brighter than them all:
He showed us how to live with love
And how, with faith, to answer when God calls.
