“Revelation does synthesize the apparently divergent sciences of nature and the theology of religion into a consistent and logical universe philosophy, a co-ordinated and unbroken explanation of both science and religion.” (1105.5) 101:2.1.
Throughout history, many have perceived a conflict between science and religion. Science explores the physical mechanisms of the universe, while religion seeks to understand meaning, purpose, and divine relationship. When science and religion are understood as complementary rather than competing paths to truth, a more complete understanding of reality emerges. Scientific knowledge deepens our appreciation for the magnificence of creation, while spiritual insight illuminates its purpose and destiny. Together, they reveal a universe that is not chaotic or divided but coherent, purposeful, and filled with divine meaning.
