“Genuine spiritual faith (true moral consciousness) is revealed in that it: Produces a sublime trust in the goodness of God even in the face of bitter disappointment and crushing defeat.” 101:3.6 (1108.5)
The adventure of life has many flavors, it's sometimes sweet, and in many cases bitter. Life is not a steady walk in the park, it's rather a complicated journey that takes us through beautiful and pleasant places as well as obscure and painful ones. We sometimes feel despair and anxiety, when we're traversing through a dark time in our lives. It may be the death or illness of a loved one, losing our job, or having injustices fall upon us. It's during these treacherous times that we cannot forget our faith that God loves us and he's watching over us, especially during these moments.
There's an expression in spanish that says... "Dios aprieta pero no ahorca" which translates to "God chokes but does not strangle." When I'm in a dark moment, I remember this, and trust that whatever situation is upon me, God is at my side making sure I don't suffocate. It's very hard to be in a difficult situation and understand that it is tempering and molding us, we usually realize it afterwards. Nevertheless, when we're traversing that dark path, we must place all of our faith in God, and realize that "this too shall pass!" Nothing is eternal in this material world, and everything will eventually evolve.
When we have genuine spiritual faith, nothing can defeat us. It may even break our material body, just as what happened with Jesus and his crucifixion, but it will never break our spirit. Even if we die in the material world, we are assured that our personality and spirit is everlasting.
