"Few mortals ever dare to draw anything like the sum of personality credits established by the combined ministries of nature and grace. The majority of impoverished souls are truly rich, but they refuse to believe it." 48:7.6 (556.6)
Most people move through life believing they are lacking—lacking ability, opportunity, or worth. Yet the truth is often the opposite. Each person is born with a vast reserve of “personality credits,” gifts formed through the combined ministries of nature and grace. Intelligence, imagination, conscience, resilience, love, and the capacity for faith are quietly placed within us long before we realize their value.
The tragedy is not that these treasures are absent, but that they remain unused. Many souls live as if they were spiritually impoverished, hesitant to believe that they possess the inner resources necessary for growth and contribution. Doubt becomes a self-imposed limitation, preventing individuals from drawing upon the deep wealth already established within their personality.
To awaken spiritually is to recognize and begin to claim this inheritance. When we trust the gifts within us—cultivating them through effort, faith, and service—we discover that our lives are far richer than we imagined. The universe has already invested generously in every human personality. Our task is simply to believe it and begin using what has been given.
