Prayer is often thought of as a request—words spoken in hope that heaven will respond. Yet the deeper reality of prayer is not simply asking, but becoming capable of receiving.
Spiritual blessings are not distributed mechanically or arbitrarily. The soul’s inner readiness determines how much of divine goodness it can recognize, receive, and consciously experience. Just as a small vessel cannot hold the contents of a vast ocean, a soul that is closed, distracted, or fearful cannot fully perceive the abundance already flowing from the divine source.
As we grow spiritually—through sincerity, reflection, service, and faith—our inner capacity expands. The heart becomes more receptive, the mind more illuminated, and the soul more aware of the quiet ways in which divine guidance and blessing are already present.
Prayer, then, is not merely the act of asking God to change circumstances. It is the process by which the soul opens itself to greater awareness of divine reality.
