On the fifth Wednesday of July – July 29, 2026 – eighty long-time students of The Urantia Book met on Zoom to participate in the first annual "Seraphic Planetary Summit" activity by mortals of Urantia. This was a simulation of the daily meeting of our seraphic planetary government of Urantia.
The fifth Wednesday Study Group is hosted by Rick and Susan Lyon, but we want to sincerely express our appreciation for all those who accepted the roles of the Master Seraphim and other distinguished guests. We could not have asked for a better level of participation and leadership qualities. All who attended the Summit made this event a success.
We have received many nice comments about the Summit and encouragement to do it again next year. So, we plan to host the next Seraphic Planetary Summit on Wednesday, June 30, 2027.

There were twelve breakout rooms, one for each corps of the Master Seraphim: The Epochal Angels, Angels of Progress, the Religious Guardians, Angels of Nation Life, Angels of the Races, Angels of the Future, Angels of Enlightenment, Angels of Health, Angels of the Home, Angels of Industry, Angels of Diversion, and the Angels of Superhuman Ministry.
Every room worked the same three questions — What is the problem? How can we fix this? Can we help? Those assigned roles as Master Seraphim led each group and a recorder reported back to the entire group at the end of the 45 minute breakouts. The evening closed with a piano performance featuring composer Rebecca Oswald, sponsored by the UAUS as part of their Summer Serenade series.
Some of "the angels" came in costume. While this activity was planned as a fun evening, the groups took their assignments seriously and produced some wonderful and thought-provoking results that are worthy of consideration by the leaders of this movement and our world.
The evening took its shape from a single passage. It was read aloud before the rooms opened, and everything that followed was an attempt to sit inside it.
Each administrative day on Urantia begins with a consultative conference, which is attended by the Governor General, the planetary chief of archangels, the Most High observer, the supervising supernaphim, the chief of resident life carriers, and invited guests from among the high Sons of the universe or from among certain of the student visitors who may chance to be sojourning on the planet.
The direct administrative cabinet of the Governor General consists of twelve master seraphim, the acting chiefs of the twelve groups of special angels functioning as the immediate superhuman directors of planetary progress and stability. Paper 114, §5.5–5.6
Eighty readers took the parts. Each was renamed in the room — Master Seraphim, Governor General, Most High Observer, Chief of Archangels, Midwayers, Women's Corps, 24 Elders; with Imports of Time keeping the clock.
The Forum opened at 6:00 PM Eastern time and by 6:30 PM the twelve breakout rooms opened and individuals were assigned to their respective groups. Each group considered the same three questions as they related to their specific area of responsibility. Then every room came back and reported results to the entire group.
Challenge: What is the problem? What obstacles do we face? What is most urgent?
Solution: How can we fix this? What are the short- and long-term goals? Will collaboration with another angelic corps be needed to accomplish the tasks?
Action: How can we help? What will this group, or each person actually do?
