“God who is spirit can be known only as a spiritual experience. God can be revealed to the finite sons of the material worlds, by the divine Son of the spiritual realms, only as a Father.” 169:4.13 (1857.4)
Human beings naturally seek to understand the universe through observation, reasoning, and material discovery. While these tools help us comprehend the physical world, they cannot fully reveal the nature of God. Because God is spirit, the knowledge of Him cannot be grasped solely through intellectual analysis or sensory observation. Instead, the awareness of God emerges through spiritual experience—an inner awakening that transcends the limitations of material perception.
This spiritual understanding becomes most meaningful when God is recognized not as a distant force but as a personal Father. The revelation of divine fatherhood transforms the concept of God from an abstract idea into a living relationship. In this relationship, the human soul discovers that the universe is not indifferent or mechanical but lovingly guided by a personal source of wisdom, compassion, and purpose.
Through such experiences, faith becomes more than belief—it becomes relationship. When individuals begin to sense God as Father, their perspective on life changes. Fear gives way to trust, isolation gives way to belonging, and existence gains deeper meaning. The journey of faith then becomes a continual discovery of this loving presence, experienced within the heart and expressed through a life of growing love and service.
