CFU Fundraising Update 2026 May
Results of Your Support for CFU – DiscoverJesus.com continues to grow and serve. This past Christmas 2025 was a record-setting week (2930 users), but it was quickly broken during the week of Easter this past month. This puts Discover Jesus to over 119,000 users since we launched 20 weeks ago. Just from these two snapshots of 'live' users, you can see that we are reaching the USA, France, Australia, Cameroon, Argentina, Haiti, Kenya, and Mexico. We have had users from over 150 countries.
Thanks to a young man from Finland, we recently were able to make UrantiaBookPod.com available in the Finnish language. Another young man has stepped up to translate the webpages for the Russian language and we are talking with a person from Ukraine to do the same for the Ukrainian people. While these are volunteers who are helping us, we still need your financial support to continue providing all our services free of charge to those we seek to serve. Jesus now asked them how much money they had among them; he also inquired as to what provision had been made for their families. When it developed that they had hardly sufficient funds to maintain themselves for two weeks, he said: "It is not the will of my Father that we begin our work in this way. We will remain here by the sea two weeks and fish or do whatever our hands find to do..." 138:7.4
Jesus enjoined them to devote themselves to fishing for two weeks, adding, "And then you will go forth to become fishers of men."
While our fundraising efforts for 2026 are ahead of last year, with January, February, and March being the best of those months individually since we began, our growth increases our expenses.
I have heard from a couple of people recently that our financial needs are so large that their small donation won't mean much. Let me assure you that this is absolutely incorrect. We are striving to do big things but in order to do big things we must continue to do the smaller things and the legal things to maintain all that we do. Yes, we are searching for that 'angel donor' who can fund the film projects, immersive experience, and Spiritual Translations but we do not expect this large need to come from the Urantia community. We need all your prayers and even 'two mites' donations to keep the ball rolling at CFU. All donations, no matter how small are vital to our spiritual mission of service bringing the teachings of The Urantia Book to the world.
Our CFU team has decided we must go back to the nets to 'go fishing' for the next few weeks to refill our financial basket. You will hear some new ideas about how you can help support these service projects and produce results for this revelation even greater than those shown above. If you like what we are doing and see the importance of it, we ask you to pray for our success and that the talent and resources we need will continue to come to us. We have absolute faith in our Father's support and yours. We have been blessed since 2021 to witness that whenever there is a need, our Father delivers.
An important part of our dissemination outreach efforts is our Google Grant Ad campaign. We use our free Google Ads each month to make people aware of our services. Just like The Urantia Book itself, people cannot benefit from the teachings or our services unless they know about them. In the 31 months that we have been using Google Ad grant, we have had 1,660,000 views of our campaigns with 110,800 people clicking on our ads and 8,448 significant events by those who click on the links. That is 110,800 people who know about God, Jesus, and The Urantia Book all because of your support for CFU.
CFU Special Friend – John Nugent
March 25, 1950 – February 14, 2026
Our dear friend and brother John Nugent has graduated to the mansions on high as of February 14, 2026. John was one of the very early supporters of The Center For Unity, since April of 2022 less than six months after we began. At that time, all we had was a dream, a vision, and a mission to bring the life and teachings of Jesus to the young people of this world. But, John saw the potential in our team, and our leadership, and he had faith in us. Since then, John has been a regular and significant financial supporter. We are truly and sincerely grateful to John for all he did to help build everything we are and everything we have accomplished so far.
He was born on March 25, 1950 to Jim and Theresa Willems Nugent in Butte, Montana. He then studied in a Jesuit Seminary and earned a BA in Philosophy from Gonzaga University. He later earned an MA from San Francisco Theological Seminary.
John's career path took him in several directions: all focused on care for his fellow human beings. His social service work took him to a variety of retirement and care facilities in Alaska, Kansas, California, and Washington State. He was creative and innovative in these placements. For example, in Seattle at Providence-Saint Vincent, a facility with 500 employees, he initiated the Intergenerational Learning Center, still active today. He created a policy to provide childcare for employees at the facility and to include senior citizens who volunteered to interact with children. He made it a desired place to work and added purpose and joy to the residents of his center.
John then worked at Hospices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene and eventually went to work for Planned Parenthood. His leadership role in Idaho led to his appointment as Director of Planned Parenthood for the state of Maryland. In that post, he became very active in the national organization. In all these positions, he placed the needs of people first and found ways to help them. He described his profession as an 'Organizational Transformation Agent' and worked diagnosing and transforming businesses, primarily nonprofits. Basically, he devoted his life to ministering to human needs, human connections, and social justice.
John's kindness and care always included his family. He married his first love, Janet Murken, who brought her wonderful sons, Bill and Jon to the family. They were happy together for 45 years. He is survived by his last love, companion and caregiver, Susan Matule, and his sons and their partners: William Nugent and Bonnie, and Jon Nugent and Hannah. John had five grandchildren. His granddaughter, Mandi will always hold a special place in his heart. His family and friends are profoundly grateful to Susan for the loving, thoughtful and wonderful care she gave John. She is an angel.
When John retired to Missoula he found a home with Spirit of Peace Community. He often gave homilies which were carefully written and researched and always had a touch of humor. He gave his last homily about a month before he died, sharing wisdom about facing death. He was truly an unusual man. An amazing conversationalist, he could draw information from a corgi! He listened. He had a phenomenal memory, a great sense of humor and was a voracious reader. He was truly kind, filled with gratitude and easy to love.
I spoke to John a few times by phone and he is a wonderful person. I believe that The Center For Unity projects are a part of the legacy of this great man. He was instrumental in getting us started, keeping us going, and serving the young people of this world.
